Beginning in March 1989, the squadron provided pre-launch security and safety surveillance of NASA launches and recovery or medical evacuation for Space Shuttle crew members.
A couple of Pave Hawks fly over the shuttle Atlantis.

Extremely rare, hard to find!
-"In 1972 DaNang, Denny Borzak started this one quiet evening in the Jolly Inn. Brought with him Bear and a few others. They walked in and starting throwing cups of liquor at every one. Game on. Liquor was flowing that evening, with most of it not going down the gullet. Great memories and times..."- Charles R.
Activated at Da Nang AB, RVN in 1966 with primary responsibility for the recovery of downed aircrew from North Vietnam, Laos, and the Gulf of Tonkin the Squadron operated HU-16s, HC-130s HH-3s and HH-53s with two detachments at Udorn RTAFB. In August 1967 it replaced most of its HH-3s with HH-53s and continued conducting hazardous deep penetration rescue missions under intense enemy fire. In 1970 it participated in the abortive Son Tay prison rescue mission (Operation 'Ivory Coast') and on November 30th 1972 it was deactivated leaving two HH-43Fs at Da Nang as Det.7 of the 40th ARRS.

USAF Zenith 96' Challenge Coin
USAF Zenith 1996 / Patrick AFB / Pararescue / Partnership for Peace / That Others May Live / Challenge Coin
This coin came from the private collection of Maj Gen Lee Downer. Very rare!
The aim of Cooperative Zenith is to demonstrate to Partnership for Peace nations the need for interoperability in the area of search and rescue, which includes survival skills.
Some 20 Partnership for Peace members took part in Cooperative Zenith 1996, May 7-16. Cooperative Zenith includes 53 participants from 20 PfP nations: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. It also involves 18 NATO officers from Canada, the Netherlands, and United States, and 100 Air Force people from Patrick and Langley AFB, Va. The first phase of the four-part exercise a symposium on SAR procedures, equipment and training of the NATO and PfP nations. Phase two is a cultural exchange program designed to improve mutual understanding and communication within the PfP framework. Command Post training in phase three involves practicing SAR concepts and procedures, and the planning of a short-notice SAR mission using a multi-national team. The exercise ends with a field SAR operation.

WANTED!: USAF 33rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron / Sri Lanka 2005 Patch
Worn during 2005 during operations for a Tsunami relief in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka was one of the countries struck by the tsunami resulting from the Indian Ocean earthquake on December 26, 2004. On January 3, 2005, Sri Lankan authorities reported 30.196 confirmed deaths. Many of the dead were adults and the elderly. The south and east coasts were worst hit. One and a half million people were displaced from their homes. The death toll continued to rise as the threat of infectious diseases breaking out turned into a reality, with doctors confirming first cases of cholera. The 33rd ERQS participated in humanitarian relief and rescue operations in that mission.
