The Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low series is a long-range combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopter for the United States Air Force. The series was upgraded from the HH-53B/C, variants of the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion. The HH-53 "Super Jolly Green Giant" was initially developed to replace the HH-3E "Jolly Green Giant". The helicopters later transitioned to Special Operations missions. The U.S. Air Force's MH-53J/M fleet was retired in September 2008.
The US Air Force ordered HH-53B and HH-53C variants for Search and Rescue units and developed the MH-53J Pave Low version for Special Operations missions.
The Pave Low's mission was low-level, long-range, undetected penetration into denied areas, day or night, in adverse weather, for infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces. Pave Lows often work in conjunction with MC-130H Combat Talon for navigation, communications and combat support and with MC-130P Combat Shadow for in-flight refueling.
The large green airframe of the HH-53B earned it the nickname "Super Jolly Green Giant". This name is a reference to the smaller HH-3E "Jolly Green Giant", a stretched variant of the H-3 Sea King, used in the Vietnam War for combat search-and-rescue (CSAR) operations.

USAF 23rd Special Tactics Squadron / "We Who Dare" Patch Set
The 23rd Special Tactics Squadron (23rd STS) is one of the Special Tactics units of the United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). The 23rd STS was previously designated the 1723rd Special Tactics Squadron prior to 1992.
The unit trains, equips and employs combat control, pararescue and support personnel in response to Presidential/Secretary of Defense taskings. The primary task is to integrate, synchronize, and/or control the elements of air and space power in the objective area.
The unit performs austere airfield control, terminal attack control, personnel rescue and recovery, assault zone assessment, battlefield trauma care, direct action, and special reconnaissance.

Made in the USA and released for "Movember" 2018
After a decade collecting and taking care of the heritage of the USAF Rescue Collection for future generations, I've made several collaborations for different rescue squadrons over the last years.
Many friends from some specific squadrons asked me a year ago to come up with a new design that could be used for every member of the combat crew in the field. With that in mind, I started this concept morale patch that took me over 2 months of design with the constant feedback with PJ’s, Gunners, Pilots and Maintainers who brought many different ideas for this design.
After lots of corrections, test samples and multiple ideas I came up with this final design that integrates primarily the HH-60G Pave Hawk as the "Prima Donna" of this design as the main working platform from the Guardian Angel (GA) Weapons System and the rotor wash power flow to symbolize speed and reaction for both the helicopters and crew with the integrated Pararescue Guardian Angel that symbolize the GA Weapon System (a non-aircraft, equipment-based weapon system. This equipment-based weapons system is employed by Combat Rescue Officers, Pararescuemen and SERE Specialists and enabled by uniquely trained combat rescue support personnel) and the Mustache for the "Pedro" Call-sign used in Afghanistan by the combat rescue crews.
Mainly designed for the 83rd ERQS, this patch has been so popular that over five rescue squadrons and four maintenance squadrons chose already this patch to wear it in the field.
Made with the highest quality of PVC, 3D design and much details as possible with the sole purpose to support the pilots, gunners, pararescuemen, engineers and maintainers in the field that gives it all every day in the field SO THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE.

The 58th Special Operations Wing (58 SOW) is a combat unit of the United States Air Force stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. The 58 SOW is part of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Nineteenth Air Force.
The 58 SOW serves as the premier training site for Air Force special operations and combat search and rescue aircrews. The wing provides undergraduate, graduate and refresher aircrew training for special operations, rescue, missile site support and distinguished visitor airlift helicopter, fixed-wing, and tilt-rotor operations. The wing employs more than 1,800 personnel and trains over 2,000 students a year.
The 58th Special Operations Wing’s mission is to train mission-ready special operations, combat search and rescue, missile site support, and UH-1 Distinguished Visitor airlift crews directly supporting Air Expeditionary Forces for the United States Air Force.
The wing operates eight different weapon systems: UH-1N, HH-60G, HC-130J, MC-130J, MC-130H, and CV-22 totaling more than 60 assigned aircraft. The wing teaches more than 100 courses in 18 different crew positions including pilot, navigator, electronic warfare officer, flight engineer, communications system operator, loadmaster and aerial gunner. Additionally, the wing responds to worldwide contingencies and provides search and rescue support to the local community.

USAF 1st Expeditionary Rescue Group / OCP Patch
The 1st Expeditionary Rescue Group is a provisional unit of the United States Air Force assigned to Air Combat Command to activate or inactivate as necessary. It was activated in Southwest Asia in September 2015 to provide combat search and rescue for Operation Inherent Resolve.
The group was first activated during World War II as the 1st Emergency Rescue Squadron. After training with the United States Navy in Florida, the squadron moved to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, where it flew Consolidated OA-10 Catalinas (and later other aircraft) to perform combat search and rescue missions, earning a Distinguished Unit Citation in August 1944. After VE Day, the squadron returned to the United States and was inactivated in 1946.
The group was activated later in 1946 as the 1st Rescue Squadron and was responsible for air rescue operations in the Caribbean and mid-Atlantic area. In 1952, it expanded to become the 1st Air Rescue Group but was inactivated in 1956 as Air Force operations in the Caribbean were reduced. It was active again in 1995 at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, where it provided rescue and range support for the Eastern Test Range. It was inactivated in 1997 when its component squadrons moved to Moody Air Force Base, Georgia and were reassigned, while the Eastern Test Range support mission was assumed by Air Force Reserve Command.
