USAF 303rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron / Somali Safari / Patch
This is a great and rare piece kindly donated to the collection by TSgt. Barry Wood who designed this patch for a deployment and flew Jolly Greens serving as Special Mission Aviator for a tour back in 2020-2021 where the crew was stationed in Baledogle Airfield in Somalia and then in Manda Bay, Kenya. The patch was made in the USA in 2019 in very small quantities.
The 303rd ERQS supports the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa by providing continuous personnel recovery alert coverage to enable combined forces to counter violent extremist organizations within Eastern Africa and areas of interest. It is permanently deployed to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti. It was reactivated in 2013 as a forward-deployed umbrella organization for rotational Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk and Pararescue/Guardian Angel CSAR units of the Air Force Reserve deployed to U.S. Africa Command, specifically to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
