The mission of the 23rd Wing is to organize, train and employ combat-ready Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, HC-130 and HH-60, as well as pararescuemen and force protection assets. It consists of approximately 6,100 military and civilian personnel, including geographically separated units (GSU) at Nellis AFB, Nevada, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, MacDill AFB, Florida and the Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida.

Pararescuemen from the 38th Rescue Squadron and local rescue assets, set up a basket to carry an evacuee, Aug. 30, 2017, in the Houston, Texas area. The 347th Rescue Group from Moody Air Force Base, Ga. responded with its rescue aircraft and personnel in support of FEMA after Hurricane Harvey brought flooding and destruction to parts of Texas.

Made for the Pararescue Foundation in honor of the Crew of Jolly 51. Original art was created for this patch.  Only 300 were made in OCP version in the USA in April 2019.

On March 15 the Air Force Pararescuemen community lost 2 of his members when their HH60 Pave Hawk crashed in Iraq. All 7 men aboard Jolly 51 were killed. This has been a very hard time for their team and all the rescue community. 100% of profits from this patch will be donated to the Pararescue Foundation. This charity was quick to offer and give amazing support to the families of those killed and all the men involved.

In memory of Master Sgt. William Posch (PJ), Staff Sgt. Carl Enis (PJ), Capt. Andreas O’Keefe, Capt. Christopher Zanetis, Master Sgt. Christopher Raguso, and Staff Sgt. Dashan Briggs all members of the Jolly 51 crew who were killed in a helicopter crash in Anbar Province, Iraq.

The patch also comes with a sticker that matches de the patch design.

Made for the Pararescue Foundation in honor of the Crew of Jolly 51. Original art created for this patch. Made with a totally different technique, this patch is not embroidered or woven, it actually uses a Dye Sublimation (this method allowed the most detail to be retained). It has cut and stitched borders with velcro hook-and-loop backing. It is 4" tall and only 300 were made in OCP version in the USA in April 2019; exactly one year after they made this edition in full-color version.

After a decade collecting and taking care of the heritage of the USAF Rescue Collection for future generations, I've made several collaborations for different rescue squadrons over the last years. Many friends from some specific squadrons asked me a year ago to come up with a new design that could be used for every member of the combat crew in the field. With that in mind, I started this concept morale patch that took me over 2 months of design with the constant feedback with PJ’s, Gunners, Pilots and Maintainers who brought many different ideas for this design. 

After lots of corrections, test samples and multiple ideas I came up with this final design that integrates primarily the HH-60G Pave Hawk as the "Prima Donna" of this design as the main working platform from the Guardian Angel (GA) Weapons System and the rotor wash power flow to symbolize speed and reaction for both the helicopters and crew with the integrated Pararescue Guardian Angel that symbolize the GA Weapon System (a non-aircraft, equipment-based weapon system. This equipment-based weapons system is employed by Combat Rescue Officers, Pararescuemen and SERE Specialists and enabled by uniquely trained combat rescue support personnel) and the Mustache for the "Pedro" Call-sign used in Afghanistan by the combat rescue crews.

Mainly designed for the 83rd ERQS, this patch has been so popular that over five rescue squadrons and four maintenance squadrons chose already this patch to wear it in the field.

Made with the highest quality of PVC, 3D design and much details as possible with the sole purpose to support the pilots, gunners, pararescuemen, engineers and maintainers in the field that gives it all every day in the field SO THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE.

On March 15, 2018, the tragic loss of Jolly 51 struck the USAF rescue family. An accident involving an HH-60G Pave Hawk during low-level operations near the Syrian border took the lives of seven heroes. The combat rescue unit deployed was a mix of different rescue units combined because that's how they roll. Because of the manning and operations tempo they've been doing more with less for years even before 911 they've been supporting that area providing the best combat rescue capability and bringing young soldiers back to their families with a variety of rescue skill sets. "The Things We Do, That Others May Live". These particular tabs were made right after the tragic accident in honor of two of the 308th RQS Pararescuemen SSgt.Carl Enis (ES) and MSgt.William Posch (PH) and kindly donated to the collection by TSgt.
