    I flew, as a public affairs media escort officer, with the 403rd into two hurricanes in the 1980 storm season. The second of those was Hurricane Allen. I recall watching bolts of lightning through the observer's port just below the flight deck. I was a second lieutenant then, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs, Headquarters AFRES, Robins AFB, Ga.
