Redesigned as the 64th Expeditionary Rescue Squadron & activated in 2003.

Operations.
Participated in Operation Hardtack, a US atomic test at the Eniwetok Proving Ground 21 Oct 1957-13 Aug 1958. Provided combat SAR and support to coalition forces in the Iraqi theatre of operations in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM & NEW DAWN. Tasked to conduct fixed-wing personnel recovery missions in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
