USAF 38th ARRS / Aerospace Rescue & Restaurant Service Patch

USAF 38th Aerospace Rescue & Recovery Squadron / Aerospace Rescue & Restaurant Service / "That Others May Eat" Patch
One of the toughest "hard to find" patches from my collection.

The story behind this patch tells that rations ran to the sites along the 38th Parallel in Korea back in the 70's and that's the main motto of this design. Designed by NCOIC PJ Jim Spears and produced by Flight Engineer Fred Crimmins from the 38th ARRS in 1979, these patches were made in very small quantities. A second large version was made (around 4/5 only) and the first large one went to the new 38th ARRS Commander when he came to Osan AFB for his initial visit at the A-Frame club and had a ceremony where this big version was presented him.

Large version sewed on Fred Crimmins helmet bag

  1. Mine came from a ret 129 ARRG vice CO. And over a beer he told me they were out at Clark for an deploy/ex. Turns out the 3rd TFW/CLARK were having/prepping for a inspection.
Some of the 129 guys had procured/were wearing these. They were seen by a base high ranking officer. And my friend. As the high ranking fella on the 129th deploy. Was called in. And hauled across the coals.....needless to say.
The patches were removed. And not worn again.
