USAF AFSOC / Pararescue - CCT / ¨Mal Ad Os¨ Challenge Coin

USAF AFSOC (Air Force Special Operations Command) Special Tactics / Pararescue - CCT (Combat Control Team)  / ¨Mal Ad Os¨ (Bad in the end) Challenge Coin.

This is a nice Brand new version of the 80's same challenge coin (here) with a slightly difference on the Angel's face and body definition and the CCT motto "Mal ad Os" is wrong and stated as "Ma ad Os". A mint condition example of an original, unofficial old challenge coin for the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command / Special Tactics.  The front has the USAF ParaRescue symbol and the back the USAF Combat Control symbol.

The Pararescue U.S.A.F Special Operations Command (AFSOC) and Air Combat Command units tasked with recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments.  They are the only members of the Department of Defense specifically organized, trained and equipped to conduct personnel recovery operations (CSAR) in hostile or denied areas as a primary mission.  Also known as "PJs" (Pararescue Jumpers), these special operations units are also used to support NASA missions and have been used to recover astronauts after water landings.  They are attached to other SOF teams from all branches to conduct other operations as appropriate.

The U.S.A.F. Combat Controllers (CCT) (are ground combat forces specialized in a traditional pathfinder role while having a heavy emphasis on simultaneous air traffic control, fire support and command, control and communications in covert or austere environments.  Assigned to Special Tactics Squadrons, , Combat Controllers are an integral part of U.S.A.F Special Operations Command (AFSOC), the Air Force component of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).  Combat Controllers are often assigned individually or as a team to Army Special Forces, Ranger and Navy SEAL teams to provide expert air support coordination and communications capabilities.

USAF Pararescue / Saved by Pedro Challenge Coins - Poker Chips

USAF Pararescue / Saved by Pedro Challenge Coins - Poker Chips
These Poker chips are used by the USAF’s Pararescue Teams in Afghanistan. All four chips are about 1.75" in diameter and are made in a nice heavy ceramic.  All say "Saved by Pedro". These Coins are used by teams who rescue downed aircrews in combat, not easy item to find…  These came from a Marine who traded with several of the crews during his deployments to Helmand, Afghanistan. USAF 24th Composite Wing Patch

USAF 24th Composite Wing Patch

The 24th was reactivated on 1 January 1989, as the 24th Composite Wing assuming responsibilities for Howard AFB and Albrook AFS. The wing flew combat sorties in the Invasion of Panama, December 1989 – January 1990. The wing trained foreign and domestic pilots in forward air control. It again flew search and rescue, aeromedical airlift and disaster relief missions in the Latin American region from 1989–1990. Members of the wing deployed to Southwest Asia to provide air liaison support between ground forces and air operations from 1 October 1990 – February 1991. When the 24th Composite Wing inactivated in 1991, its assets were placed under Air Forces in Panama.

The 24th Special Operations Wing (24 SOW) is a United States Air Force active-duty wing that was activated on 12 June 2012. Its headquarters is at Hurlburt Field, Florida and it has component groups located in North Carolina, Georgia and Washington. It is the third special operations wing in Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).

The 24th SOW is a reactivation of the 24th Wing, previously assigned with the Twelfth Air Force, stationed at Howard Air Force Base, Panama. It was inactivated on 1 November 1999. The inactivation of the 24th Wing and the closure of Howard Air Force Base ended an 82-year United States Air Force presence in Panama, which began with the formation of the 7th Aero Squadron on 29 March 1917.
