USAF 321st STS / Crusader Patch

USAF 321st Special Tactics Squadron / Crusader Patch
EXTREMELY RARE!! version of the original BTB (Blue Team) patch.
It was made not long ago and due that other teams (like the Brown Team) liked this patch, they decided to make this version without the "BTB" lettering at the bottom of the shield and its believed this version (besides the Blue Team) is worn by Brown and Silver Team members too.

321st Special Tactics Squadron (321st STS) provides a fast reaction, rapidly-deployable force capable of establishing and providing positive control of the air to ground interface during special operations or conventional missions. Unit combat controllers and pararescue men conduct the reconnaissance, surveillance, assessment and establishment of assault zone sites and provide air traffic control and long-range secure command and control communications. Additionally, the unit provides combat trauma medical care, personnel recovery, and terminal attack control of munitions delivered by fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. The squadron also has special operations weathermen assigned to provide weather support for other special operations forces.

USAF 305th RQS / Jolly Green / AZ Patch

USAF 305th Rescue Squadron / Jolly Green / Arizona Patch
The 305th Rescue Squadron is part of the 943rd Rescue Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, a subordinate of the 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. It operates HH-60 Pave Hawk aircraft conducting peacetime and combat search and rescue missions.

The 305th was originally activated at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan in 1958 as the 305th Air Rescue Squadron. It trained for and performed search and rescue operations, primarily in the upper midwestern United States, from 1958 until 1992. It deployed personnel worldwide to support active duty forces and was called to active duty for eighteen months after the USS Pueblo incident. In 1985, a squadron crew earned the Koran Kolligan, Jr. Trophy, the highest safety award in the Air Force, for successfully landing their severely disabled HH-3 helicopter. The squadron was inactivated in 1992 and its aircraft transferred to the active Air Force or to storage.

The unit was again activated the following year at Davis-Monthan, where it was equipped with HH-60s in 1994. It has participated in most major operations in Southwest Asia since that date. It also flew rescue missions following Hurricane Katrina and is the only United States Air Force rescue unit that is capable of operating from ships.

USAF 23rd FG / Flying Tigers OCP Patch

USAF 23rd Fighter Group / Flying Tigers / "Attack-Rescue-Prevail" / Guardian Angel Weapon System / OCP color Patch.
Circa 2017

The 23d Fighter Group (23 FG) is a United States Air Force unit. It is assigned to the 23d Wing and stationed at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. The 23d Fighter Group was established in World War II as the 23d Pursuit Group of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). Redesignated the 23d Fighter Group before its activation, the group was formed in China on 4 July 1942, as a component of the China Air Task Force and received a small cadre of volunteer personnel from the simultaneously disbanded 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) – the "Flying Tigers" of the Chinese Air Force.

To carry on the traditions and commemorate the history of the AVG, aircraft of the USAF 23d Fighter Group carry the same "Shark Teeth" nose art of the AVG's Curtiss P-40 Warhawks, along with the "FT" (Flying Tiger) tail code. The 23d Fighter Group's aircraft is the only United States Air Force aircraft currently authorized to carry this distinctive and historical aircraft marking.

Currently based at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, the group is assigned as one of two operations groups of the 23d Wing at Moody. Both organizations serve as part of the Ninth Air Force and Air Combat Command. The 23d Fighter Group's primary missions are forward air control, close air support, air interdiction and CSAR (Combat Search & Rescue Operations).

The group has two operational squadrons assigned: the 74th and the 75th Fighter Squadrons both flying A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft.

USAF 71st ARRS Patch Set

USAF 71st Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron / Arctic Rescue Squadron Patch Set
Beautiful patch set and pretty rare! Nice hard to find baseball cap patch and subdued version of the original squadron patch.

The 71st Rescue Squadron maintains combat-ready status as the last active duty Lockheed HC-130P Combat King, combat search and rescue squadron. The squadron deploys expeditionary forces to execute personnel recovery operations worldwide to support theater commanders to advance national security interests. This mission requires the squadron to conduct low-level operations and air refueling using night vision goggles and airdrop pararescue personnel of other units for in support of combat personnel recovery.

The 71st was first activated in November 1952 when Air Rescue Service expanded its existing air rescue squadrons to groups and expanded their flights to separate squadrons. It flew search, rescue and recovery missions out of Elmendorf Air Force Base from 1952–1960 and 1970-1991. It has flown aerial refueling missions for search and rescue operations since 1991.

The squadron has supported the combat search and rescue mission in Southwest Asia with aircraft and crews since 1992. In August 2014, the 71st completed its last deployment with the HC-130P Combat King aircraft, which it has flown since 2003. This was the last deployment by an active duty squadron with the Combat King model. The squadron is now beginning to transition to the HC-130J Combat King II by September 2015.

USAF 351st Battlefield Airmen Training Squadron / Challenge Coin
Directly from Kirtland AFB, NM from the latest PJ/CRO Class, this amazing coin was kindly donated by the legendary PJ Chipper W. for the collection. HooYah!

The coin is the instructor's coin for PJ Instructors at the "Superman School". This authentic coin is the coloured version and there's also a subdued version.

The 351st Battlefield Airman Training Squadron was activated in June 14, 2016 at a ceremony held in Kirtland AFB and the Air Force said goodbye to Detachment 1 of the 342nd Training Squadron, which was deactivated.

The new squadron houses the USAF Pararescue and Combat Rescue Officer School and is responsible for training, mentoring and developing battlefield Airmen in land warfare and technical recovery skills. It is one of four new squadrons that will report directly to the Battlefield Airmen Training Group, which activated June 2 and is solely dedicated to training the Air Force's tactical ground component in technical rescue.

You can help to publish Yankee Air Pirates III

François Millard and Olivier Bizet are the authors of a book series called Yankee Air Pirates, about USAF uniforms, patches and equipment of the Vietnam War.

Volume 1 has a long chapter about Rescue units (including their equipment, uniforms, party suits, patches...). The third and final book will not be published if the sales of the first two volumes do not increase. This is a really hard work these guys made from their own pockets to publish this unique and amazing book. You can you help to get the third edition of this book out on the streets. A "must have" guidebook for serious collectors!

USAF JTF-STS / Space Shuttle Patch

USAF Joint Task Force - Space Shuttle Support / "Like Magic" Patch

There's not much info regarding this patch. This is all could gather, but I believe is related in some point to the Space Shuttle Rescue Support where some ARRS has to be involved, nevertheless, each shuttle launch had its own STS number and special patch. The patch usually had the name of the shuttle and/or the astronauts on it for each launch, so this is a patch for the guys doing support for the launch (most probably at a Transoceanic Abort Landing (TAL) site (perhaps Morrocco?). The design of this patch infers that it is the space shuttle Challenger?, but does not state the STS number or astronauts.

The CV-22 is fitted with advanced electronic warfare systems, terrain following and avoidance radars, and navigation systems allowing them to operate under almost any adverse weather or time condition, to maximum efficiency.

The 7th SOS was reassigned to the 39th Aerospace Rescue & Recovery Wing, on 1 February 1987 and to the 352d Special Operations Group, on 1 December 1992 relocating in the process to RAF Alconbury, England during the Cold War.

Its unconventional warfare capability has reaped the squadron nine AF Outstanding Unit Awards, the 1997 MacKay Trophy for the most meritorious USAF flight of the year, the 1998 William Tunner Award for the most outstanding airlift mission, and selection as AFSOC's Special Operations Squadron of the Year for 1998.

In 2013 the 7th SOS transitioned from the MC-130H to the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey.

On 8 January 2015 the last MC-130H departed the 7 SOS returning to Hurlburt Field where they'll continue to fly and make an impact for special operations. The last MC-130H Combat Talon II departure from RAF Mildenhall marks the final step of Special Operations Command Europe's transition from the Talon II to the CV-22 Osprey.

USAF 71st ARRS / Dumbo Patch

USAF 71st Aerospace Rescue & Recovery Squadron / "Dumbo" Patch
Extremely rare! Circa 1968
This patch from the 71st ARRS came way back when the squadron was formed in the early 60's and was designed by Walt Disney.

Also history of 71st ARRS, Elmendorf tends to overlook the rescue helicopters were actually the 5040th Helicopter Squadron (1969-1971). 13 new Sikorsky HH-3E helicopters replaced H-21s flown by the 5050th starting in May 1970. In 1975 the 5040th was deactivated and the H-3s were transferred to the 71st ARRS. It was this action that made the 71st a composite rescue squadron (operated both fixed and rotary wing aircraft). Its 71st. The ski's and snow refer to the snow in Alaska where the unit was formed. Dumbo refers to the Callsign used by Catalina's (WWII) and I think also the HU-16's in Korea that were used for rescue. The 71st uses a variant of this patch as one of their friday patches.

About the "Dumbo" skis:

Due to the fact that the marginal zone of the Greenland Ice Cap blocked surface transportation, the obvious way to build and resupply DEW line DYE sites was airlift. The concept had been proved during Project Snowman and other expeditions and later been re-affirmed on a practical basis in the resupply of N-33 and N-34. However, because the planned construction of the two DYE sites on the Greenland Ice Cap would involve airlift of material and equipment which was beyond the capability of the ski-wheel aircraft then in the Air Force inventory, an aircraft with a larger cargo capability and longer range was required. Fortunately, the means were available. During 1957, the Air Force conducted extensive testing of a ski-wheel configured C-130A (55-0021) which could be operated from both conventional runways and snow or ice covered surfaces. The tests proved the Lockheed manufactured aircraft could successfully do what had already been done by other ski-wheeled aircraft.
Although the C-123J was an improvement over the C-47, it still lacked the necessary range and load capacity required for the Greenland Ice Cap. A larger aircraft was needed. This led to the modification of C-130A, 55-0021, in 1956. The aircraft made its first flight in January 1957 from Dobbins AFB, near the Lockheed-Georgia plant at Marietta, Georgia. (53) It was later tested extensively by a joint Air Force-Lockheed team at Bemidji during Project Slide (snow, land, ice, development).
