BALL Watch Company is proud of its American heritage and delighted to introduce the new Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne, designed to withstand the extreme conditions under which US paratroopers operate.
Disorient of balance spring upon shock impact is the most common cause of watch inaccuracy. BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne features SpringLOCK® – the world’s first revolutionary patented anti-shock system that enhances watch accuracy by reducing balance spring’s shock impact by 66%.
Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne is equipped with BALL’s new patented SpringLOCK® system. This mechanism has been developed in-house by BALL Watch engineers to guarantee the accuracy of movement upon heavy shock impact. The balance-spring is protected by a "cage" designed to absorb the energy created when the watch is subjected to external impacts. Such impacts can cause standard mechanical movements to vary by up to approximately 60 seconds a day. The SpringLOCK® system reduces their effect by up to 66%, thus ensuring that the caliber remains accurate. Watch wearers can now freely engage in various sporting activities (e.g. golf), knowing that accurate time keeping can still be possible under external shock impacts.
BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon Airbone meets the strongest specifications of USAF Pararescue team. Its case back is embossed with USAF Paraescue’s logo. This special airborne unit of the US Air Force is responsible for rescuing and providing medical assistance to soldiers involved in military operations on the ground. The engraving also features the USAF Pararescue’s famous motto: "That others may live."
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne’s stainless steel case is 42 mm in diameter and houses an ETA 2836-2 self-winding movement. The accuracy of this caliber has been certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). When designing this timepiece, BALL Watch Company once again applied its pioneering process of combining ceramic with luminescent paint to create the bezel. As a result, the digits and markers on the bezel are luminescent, allowing the wearer to read the watch in the dark. The ceramic also makes the bezel highly resistant to corrosion, scratching and UV rays.
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Airborne is equipped with a tapered stainless steel bracelet fitted with BALL’s patented triple folding buckle. Its extension system allows the wearer to easily adjust the bracelet to fit their wrist, even over clothing such as a paratrooper’s uniform. Instead of a traditional presentation box, this new chronometer comes in a hard-wearing case with an additional rubber strap.
