USAF 21st SOS / Jolly Green / Ace Patch

USAF 21st Special Operations Squadron / Jolly Green / Ace Patch
In May 1988 the 67th ARRS split in two and the helicopters went to the 21st SOS during the unit’s assignment to the RAF Alconbury UK base. They thought they were going to be a Jolly Green Giant unit so they had the jolly patch made. They were then told they weren't, so the patch lasted only a week and this was the replacement. It dates easily as close to June 1988. Apparently, it was also used for a week before being replaced with the Dust Devil patch they used since Vietnam. There were 4 versions made (a lot if you ask me, especially if they only used it for a week!) most differ in size.  The 21st Special Operations Squadron was reactivated in the UK in 1992, after being deactivated following the Vietnam war. This patch came from the collection of Bob Bragg (UK) back in the 1990s and most of the info. came from my friend and fellow collector AMR from the Jolly Green Giant Collection.
